The HLD Mediterranean Fund supports projects aimed at protecting the marine environment in the Mediterranean.

Among the causes supported by corporate philanthropy, environmental protection is at the bottom of the table, far behind social, educational, cultural or around heritage issues. The protection of the marine environment is the least funded environmental issue, while its biodiversity and landscapes are rapidly degrading due to anthropogenic pressure and global warming.

HLD is passionate about the Mediterranean, and set up an endowment fund in 2018 to help ensure the sustainability of this ecosystem and its beauty. The HLD Mediterranean Fund is dedicated to fund projects that raise public awareness and education, conduct scientific research or help restore environments.

HLD supports the Imagine Institute, a European centre for research, care and teaching dedicated to genetic diseases. The Institute brings together scientists, doctors and patients around a unique model based on the interaction between research, therapeutic innovation, teaching and clinical care. This integrated approach helps to accelerate our understanding of genetic diseases and the development of innovative therapeutic solutions for patients and their families.

Through this support, HLD reaffirms its commitment to research excellence capable of bringing about lasting progress in scientific knowledge and medical innovation for the benefit of as many people as possible.

Akamasoa: making education a driving force for sustainable reconstruction

HLD has also helped to finance a school as part of the Akamasoa project founded in Madagascar by Father Pedro Opeka.

For over thirty-five years, Akamasoa has been developing a unique model of social reconstruction based on three inseparable pillars: housing, work and education.

Conceived as a genuine driver of empowerment and dignity, the school plays a central role in this approach.

By providing access to education for thousands of children from the most vulnerable communities, Akamasoa works to break the cycle of extreme poverty in the long term and helps to build independent and sustainable life paths.

Through this support, HLD aims to contribute to initiatives that place intergenerational transmission, collective responsibility and investment in future generations at the heart of human development.
