Mare Vivu

The CorSeaCare Mission is a scientific sailing expedition around Corsica led by the Mare Vivu association. Every summer since 2016, it has taken a team of scientists on board a catamaran to collect environmental data that expands our knowledge of marine biodiversity and plastic pollution around Corsica. Several scientific protocols were implemented in 2026: biodiversity observation and inventory following the standardized MIRACETI protocol, acoustic analysis of cetacean movements as part of the PAMCéClass program, chemical analysis of microplastics in partnership with the CNRS, characterization of microplastics in partnership with Ifremer, and public awareness-raising at events such as the Festival de la Méditerranée in Ajaccio, the expedition’s starting point.
